Our Policies and Frequently Asked Questions

Birds will not be sold or leased for self release. Birds will not be released indoors or at night. Birds will not be released in inclement weather such as heavy rains, severe winds, hail or thunderstorms. In the event that Louisiana Love Doves determines to cancel 100% refund is given. The customer can choose to display doves in beautiful cages at ceremony or reception.

We only release healthy, we trained and conditioned banded white homing pigeons also known as Rock Doves.

We would never release ring neck doves that can often be purchased in pet stores. These small doves would have their lives drastically shortened if released into the wild.

We ensure that appropriate attire is worn for all events and that our release coordinators are 100% reliable and on time.

What happens to doves after they are released?
They are trained to fly back to their home. Where they are fed, watered and safe.

How far can they fly?
Well trained healthy birds can fly up to 600 miles in one day. Most of the releases are within a fifty mile radius of their home.

How late in the day can the doves be released?
The distance of the release from their home will determine the latest time possible for the release. The doves need enough time to safely arrive home before dark.

What if there is bad weather?
We will not release the doves in bad weather: rain, wind, hail etc.

How can doves be released at a Church Wedding?
The doves can be released outside, following the ceremony. The dove release can take the place of throwing rice or other common rituals.

What happens if inclement weather prevents the release?
The doves may be displayed indoors. See further details concerning in release policy.

Can the doves be released indoors?
No, they are trained only to be released outdoors. However, they always make a beautiful indoor display
